About MAYC
The Methodist
association of Youth Clubs (MAYC) was founded in 1945, following the
creation of many Methodist Youth Clubs across the country. The
organisation was publically launched with an event at the Royal Albert
Hall on Saturday the 2nd of June, a venue that was to be used for many
years by MAYC's premier event of the year - London Weekend.
Although the format
varied over the decades with changing demands, it remained an
opportunity for young christians from across the country to unite for
both fun and fellowship. With more variations in demand the event was
eventually superseded by a new national event - Breakout. This event is
now run every other year, using different venues including Brimingham's
NEC and London's Docklands Areana.
